There are multiple Medicare options for VFW members. The VFW Insurance Program, administered by Lockton Affinity, offers Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplemental and Medicare Part D through Humana. Humana is one of the nation’s largest health care companies, offering a broad national footprint.

With multiple Medicare options for VFW members, it can be hard to keep them all straight. Read on for descriptions of each product offering:

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage Plans are offered through private companies and cover all Medicare services. Most Medicare Advantage Plans also offer extra coverage, like vision, hearing and dental coverage.

Medicare Supplemental

A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy helps pay some of the health care costs that Medicare doesn’t cover on its own. The policy may cover expenses such as copayments, coinsurance, deductibles and more.

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D is a prescription drug benefit that helps to make the costs of prescription drugs and prescription drug insurance premiums more affordable for Medicare beneficiaries.

Coverage may not be available in all states and is subject to actual policy terms and conditions.  Coverage may be provided by an excess/surplus lines insurer which is not licensed by or subject to the supervision of the insurance department of your state of residence. Policy coverage forms and rates may not be subject to regulation by the insurance department of your state of residence. Excess/surplus lines insurers do not generally participate in state guaranty funds and therefore insureds are not protected by such funds in the event of the insurer’s insolvency.
